Self-Sabotage and Letting Perfection Being the Enemy of Good
I always tell the delegates at my content marketing training events that they should never let perfection be the enemy of good. In reality, this is easier said than done.
As creative marketers, we are often so self-critical of our work that we look for problems that don’t exist or don’t matter. We do this because we fear failure and what other people (who probably don’t care) think of us. Of course, finding fault in something is far easier than seeing any positive progress as a step in the right direction.
But this is more than just a work-related problem. We often use the same ridiculous standards to judge ourselves as individuals. This, of course, is amplified by social media.
Reasons to be cheerful
Yesterday, I received an incredibly thoughtful father’s day card from my wonderful daughters. I’m very proud of my daughters. They are both confident, talented, and creative individuals who I know will succeed in whatever they set their hearts on. It turns out they are also very proud of me.
