In the spirit of Halloween, let’s talk about what really spooks us marketers.

Drawing from countless conversations at my Content Marketing Bootcamp events, it’s clear that while the marketing community is wonderfully diverse, we’re haunted by surprisingly similar fears. Here are the top 5 things that keep us marketers awake at night.

👻 Fear of Overwhelming Audiences
Marketers dread bombarding potential clients with too much content — whether through email, social media, or blogs. But let’s be real: if the content is genuinely valuable, engaging, and timely, can there ever be “too much”? The real scare is when marketers think a single email every few months counts as a campaign. In today’s digital world, staying top-of-mind means consistent, meaningful engagement.

😱 Fear of Looking Unprofessional
No one wants to look foolish, especially in front of industry peers, by producing content that’s too simple or accessible. But remember, clarity isn’t a weakness — it’s a strength. Your customers appreciate plain language that respects their time and intelligence. If someone hides behind jargon, it may signal insecurity or a lack of true understanding of their product.
