Great ideas become reality when they are given the space to grow.

As a content creator (books, blog posts, news articles and features, podcasts, and social media campaigns), of course, I’m going to encourage you to consume more content. But if you want to develop your skills as a content creator, there is something else you need to invest your time in: absolutely nothing.
Only by finding the time and space away from constant mental stimulation can we nurture the ideas we have so carefully invested in by ingesting all that content from our favourite thought leaders.

Doom scrolling

But how many of us can ever truly claim to be 100% alone in our thoughts?
If you find yourself doom scrolling social media between meetings, consider your AirPods as an essential piece of fitness equipment, or find yourself reaching for your smartphone like a security blanket every time you are alone, it’s a clear sign that it’s time to disconnect for a while and give your brain the space to create.
Yes, seize every opportunity to learn from and be inspired by content creators you respect. But also, give yourself the space to let their ideas sink in and consider how you can take that influence to create your own unique and impactful work.
